Our Core Values
Academic excellence entails setting high academic standards for Bucknell students and giving them the tools they will need to be informed citizens and productive members of society. Bucknell graduates should be prepared to be the leaders of tomorrow--and to accomplish that in our increasingly competitive world, they will need the best education possible.
Intellectual pluralism means an education consistent, inside and outside the classroom, with this statement by the Association of American Colleges and Universities: "In any education of quality, students encounter an abundance of intellectual diversity--new knowledge, different perspectives, competing ideas, and alternative claims of truth."
Accountability characterizes a university that does at least two main things for its core constituencies: invites their informed input and stewards the financial resources they provide wisely and transparently. These constituencies include not just students, faculty, and staff, but also alumni and friends.
